VCA work safety training

Do you or does your company activity involve an increased risk of personal injury, and are you responsible for your safety? Then, you must have a valid VCA basic work safety certificate.

The VCA training in Limburg comes in two versions: the standard and the e-learning version. This course aims to help you acquire a basic knowledge of safety measures and the ability to apply this in situations where goods are loaded and offloaded or other activities are conducted. Both in-person training courses take place on-site in Elsloo.

VCA basic work safety certificate

This training lasts an entire day, starting with a morning session at 08:00, followed by an afternoon session which ends at around 16:00. The training includes exam topics such as rules and regulations, procedures, and prevention. You will review all the exam topics and receive a comprehensive VCA theory book as a handy reference guide in addition to the VCA course modules. The in-person course may take longer in practice than the number of continuing education hours assigned for this certification.

VCA basic work safety e-learning course

During the e-learning course, you study the VCA training theory materials at your own pace before the in-person training. You will receive your online code for the digital e-learning environment ten days before the training date. You must complete the entire five-to-six-hour module. Before the in-person training, you will be tested on your knowledge of the material in the e-learning module; if you do not pass this test, you will not be allowed to participate in the training. The in-person course may take longer in practice than the number of continuing education hours assigned for this certification.

Step-by-step

1. VCA in-person training day or e-learning
   Training day from 08:00 until the end of the afternoon, during which all the topics will be covered, including rules and regulations, procedures, and prevention. You can also participate in an e-learning version of the course where you study the material on your own before the exam. You must go through the entire e-learning module. The in-person and e-learning courses may take longer in practice than the number of continuing education hours assigned for this certification.
2. Proof of participation and theory exam
   Everyone who has successfully completed the VCA training will receive a Certificate of Participation. You can also take the VCA exam to obtain your VCA certificate.

Theory

The training consists of a theoretical section that includes all the VCA exam topics. You will receive instruction on the following topics:

• Legislation and liability;
• Hazards and accidents;
• Safe behaviour;
• Hazardous substances;
• Emergency situations;
• Personal protective equipment (PPEs);
• Physical risks;
• Emergency situation assessment

VCA training exam

The option to take the exam and obtain your VCA certification is available after the training. An additional fee is required per exam. The exam will take place at the end of the training day or be scheduled with you at another time. The exam will be carried out by a registered exam body. The VCA VOL certification exam will take 60 to 90 minutes. You will receive your exam results three days after the exam and your certificate and VCA card ten days after the exam. The VCA basic work safety certificate is valid for ten years in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. You will receive a free digital pass in addition to your diploma, so you can always show that you are certified wherever you are.
